"CORREGIDOR REVISITED 2011"
|
It's trite to trot out the figures as to how quickly we are losing the men of 1939-1945. It's part of writing this site, to try and keep in contact with the men who are still on the "green side of the grass." I lose friends regularly. In March 2010 I was contacted by Alyson Adams, who explained to me that she was the daughter of Pfc. Richard J. Adams, of 3d Bn HQ & HQ Co., who was amongst the first to drop on Landing Zone "B", Corregidor on February 16, 1945, and that she would be coming to Manila for a short while and wanted to visit Corregidor. I couldn't make it to Corregidor at the time, and told her that there was an American couple living there and that she should be in contact with Steve Kwiecinski for a "special" tour. We were again in contact when she announced that her father would be coming to Corregidor in January 2011, so I got busy again to try to arrange for some of our heavy duty members and friends to accompany the honored visitors. I was again caught out of the country and unable to attend, so I will let those who were involved take up the story, each in their own style. Paul Whitman
